It’s just over an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney, and is home to thriving cities, pristine outdoors and world-class amenities.  So, it’s little wonder that the Macarthur region has become a mecca for young families and a hotspot for first home buyers. Find out why Macarthur gained the title of the fastest growing region in NSW.

SO NEAR, YET SO FAR

Macarthur is around 45km south west of Sydney and geographically forms the foothills between the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands regions.  It is only a short drive from the chaos, but it feels like a world away thanks to its natural beauty, wide open spaces and historic charm – major drawcards for those seeking a relaxed country lifestyle and the benefits of a vibrant community.

The region of Macarthur is made up of a number of historical areas as well as newer parts that have been developed to cater for the growing population.  The older parts include beautiful Camden, renowned for its outstanding dining experiences, historic towns and the largest botanical gardens in Australia.

Then there are the newer areas like award-winning Oran Park that is the perfect example of a cleverly master planned community – with its keen focus on sustainable living, education and walkable open spaces.

Basically, there’s something for everyone in Macarthur.

WITH A BOOM, COMES PROGRESS

According to the NSW government, 1 in 5 people living in metro Sydney will be living in the Macarthur region between 2011 and 2031.

With this enormous population boom, all levels of government have invested time and money to ensure that infrastructure and amenities will cater for the growth. This includes new open spaces, at least six new or redeveloped schools (including the state-of-the-art Picton High School that received $100 million in redevelopment funds), sporting facilities and better public transport links. It gets better, there will also be at least two new libraries, more parks (including a world-class science park), a redeveloped hospital and the Badgerys Creek airport.

After a $200 million cash injection, the redeveloped Narellan Town Centre also opened to rapturous applause. It now boasts two major supermarkets, hundreds of retail shops, an entertainment and dining precinct plus a huge commercial space.

Macarthur Square is another example of how the government is 100% committed to making Macarthur the ultimate place to live and play. Made up of over 300 speciality stores and restaurants and 4,000 car parks it really does showcase how the changing demographic is being provided for.

All these renewal projects provide a huge amount of jobs too, which will reduce the need for long commutes and allow people to spend more time with their families. Exciting right?

CAPITALISE ON THE GROWTH

With continually growing house prices across the region, the capital gains have been consistently exceptional. In fact, it is predicted that growth will increase at a faster rate than the Sydney average.  The same goes for rental yield, which makes Macarthur the perfect place for savvy investors.
